If you drink energy drinks, you know it can become expensive if you start drinking them regularly. Anywhere from $2 – $3 each, 3 to 4 a week, you do the math. I’ve decided to try and make my own energy drink, and attempt not to kill myself while doing so! My favorite energy drink is Nos, so I used it as a reference when calculating the ingredients ratios.

I opted to stick to the basics, what really give Energy drinks their kick ; B-Vitamins and of course… Caffeine!

No Doz (or caffeine pills)

If you can do basic math, you can figure out the ratios of ingredients for your drink. You can make it a lighter energy drink, or pump it up! Just be careful, you don’t want to have a heart attack!

Saving Barnes & Noble

Its a beautiful Tuesday afternoon, and instead of working from home I decided to run over to Barnes & Noble to have a change of scene. I have 4 books on the table beside me, and I want them all! I’ve had a chance to look at each one, read a few chapters, and really get a feel for the value they’ll bring to my book collection.

Writing this at B&N

One problem, all together they are about $106, its an investment sure- I’ll learn a lot from these books, and I don’t have a problem paying that much for them assuming thats the best price I could get for them. But here I am, online, connected to the vast bookstore where everyone is competing with each other to sell it to you, and guess what… I got all the books I wanted for $34 (with shipping) from Amazon.

Here’s the problem, the joy of sitting here looking at these books, experiencing them and getting to review the material is not worth $72 to me. I think everyone has a certain number that its worth to them, would I be willing to pay an extra $5 or $10 for the “experience” of buying the book at the store? Sure! But not $72!

I love Barnes & Noble, I pay $25 a year to be a member… I spent over $700 here last year actually, I consider myself a loyal customer- but considering the difference in price between the two options, I find myself listening to my wallet instead of my loyalty to them.

What could they do- A price match guarantee to anyone comparing to Amazon’s price? I’m not sure how the numbers would work out, of course B&N has probably 10x the overhead as Amazon, but I’m thinking they’ll need to figure something out.

My question to you is, whats your price? At what point do you opt to jump online and grab what you want as apposed to buying it online? $72 is way to much of a difference for me to ignore, but find a way to make it less then $20 and I’ll stay in the store!

Cisco Announces the CRS-3… 322 Tbps Speeds

Cisco announced new technology that sounds like its going to be taking the internet to the next level. Just as the design revolution known as ‘web 2.0′ enabled users to contribute content as well as view content, this new ‘hardware 2.0′ development will be taking us to the next level in productivity and inovation.

Yes hard drive speeds will need to catch up with this new network speed (322 Terabytes Per Second), but lets assume by the time this network is implemented that computer’s have caught up. Imagine if you could access any information in the world of virtually any size and complexity in seconds. With this You could download all of the Library of Congress in just over one second, you could stream every motion picture ever created in less than four minutes. Have a few seconds with this connection and you could download Ancestry.com’s 600TB collection of data.

It enables the entire printed collection of the Library of Congress to be downloaded in just over one second; every man, woman and child in China to make a video call, simultaneously; and every motion picture ever created to be streamed in less than four minutes.

All this being noted, it’d still take over 31 years at this speed to download all the data moved over the internet… Just for this year.

Found some old artwork of mine, thought I’d throw it up here! Its been about FIVE years since I put this together, the concept is pretty simple… Eye, with a clock = Eye of Time! Its a pretty simple process to make in photoshop, I’ll post a tutorial here sometime soon and perhaps you can build your own ‘eye of time’!
